The Dark Merchant

This piece was made for my Texturing and Shading 4 class at Gnomon. It was my first time taking a step outside of my comfort zone and tackling an organic piece.

WORKFLOW

For this project I had the character skinned so that I could have more control of posing. Rather than adjusting the pose in ZBrush, I could adjust the pose with keyframes in Maya and bounce back between a 'default pose' (left) for Look Development and a 'final pose' to quickly experiment with lighting arrangements. This also allowed me to load any new sculptural details in as a blend shapes.

SCULPTURE

This piece was sculpted in ZBrush. I started the character from a sphere and retopo'd in Maya once all of my forms were in place. All of the cloth was simulated in Marvelous Designer and sculpted on top for more details.
